At border ...

We went through the Ukraine part of the border so quickly I didn't have time to blog!!
We are now waiting to get into Hungary so shouldn't be a problem.  They just check much more carefully as this is 'the frontier for Europe' and there is also a lot of smuggling of Ukrainian cigarettes into Hungary.

About this mornings services Kim says he has never been so cold and Barry noticed that there was a frost on inside floor.

Even though it was probably about at the warmest -5C.  It was great to be with them worshipping and also our talks went well.  They also formally and informally sent their greetings and love to our 2 congregations of Petersfield and Claygate.

I'll let you know when we are through into. Hungary.

This is the day the Lord has made ...

Friends,
It is a beautiful morning in Oj Akli. The sun is shining, the birds are singing but it is still bitterly cold.
We will be remembering you worshipping in Peterfield and Claygate this morning.  Barry, Kim and Peter send their love to you all.
It has been a very special couple of days. And we look forward to seeing you very soon.
Please pray for Peter, Kim and me as we talk in the Church services this morning.
More so for the wonderful people of this area. This is a hard life.  Extremes of weather and more and more extremes of wealth.
Thanks as always for your support and prayers,
Love

End of Saturday night

Friends,

Our two days of spending time with the mens of Gyula, Akli, Oj Akli and Nevetland is over.  We have had a great 2 days.  It has been a pleasure to explore some of the key principles of the gospel and what it really means to be a christian with these men who have such a tough life.  The teaching we gave was very well received and Peter and Barry did a great job of presenting their 2 areas of 'our response' and ' so what next?'.  I especially liked Barrys line ' ... well I am an engineer and - like things to be logical and so I have one manual to guide me - the bible,

I think I should explain the photo that I sent earlier today.  Its is a picture of about 2/3 rds of the elders.  So don't worry we had about the same number of people today.

After todays session we had a church service were Kim and Peter gave their testimonies in a Church with no heating when it is -10C outside with about 6" of snow.  It was cold.

We have all been touched with the Christian brotherhood between the men here and us.  We have talked on several times about us being all 1 family with the most awesome, loving daddy.

Thanks again for all your prays they do mean so much and it is so great to think about you being so supportive of these missions.

Timonie morning we have 4 church services to go to.  Peter is preaching in one of them (Gyula) and Kim and I are giving short talks in the other 3.  So please pray for these services to build up the church here.

Then at about 2:30pm we will be heading off towards Budapest,

Your brother in Christ

Day 1

Friends,
Woke up today after far too few hours of very deep sleep.
Beautiful morning here 5C and plenty of sunshine.
Today is the first day of a mini alpha course we are running with the elders.
the talks for today are;
Who is Jesus? By Kim
Why did he die? By me
And then a special talk on the role of elders from a minister from Berehove
Please pray that all th elders come and the Holy Spirit protects them and helps them to listen and for these Gods words in these key sessions to sink deep into their hearts.  Please also pray for the discussion groups that the stay focused and that the men feel that they can be completely honest and they get to the heart of the matter quickly.
Thanks and God bless

Start of mens mission ...

Friends,

Today is the start of the mens mission. Most of the day we will be travelling all meeting in Budapest.  Barry and Kim from HTC and Peter from Peters field United Reformed Church meet at 4am this morning and are now flying towards Budapest. I am flying in from Chicago.  In Budapest we will meet up with Klara (Akos' daughter) and Enniko (a friend of Andrew Ts).  Klara and Enniko will be our main translators for the trip.  They are very skilled linguists but more important than that mature sisters in Christ.
The itinery after all meeting up looks like this:
- Thu 3pm Pick up bibles in Budapest
- Thu 4pm Stop at Tesco for essentials
- Thu. 8pm ish arrive at border
- Thu late arrive in the villages
- Thu late meet with Ministers and 2 more translators from University (Sandor and Ferenc)
- Fri 9-5 .day 1 of elders mini alpha course - Fri 7pm evangelical village meeting #1
- Sat 9-5 day 2 for elders
- Sat 7pm evangelical village meeting #2
- Sun am village Church services
- Sun early pm start drive to border and on to Budapest
- Mon evening flight home

Being able to send these messages is very important to us.  It is such a comfort that there are so many of you supporting us in Prayer.  And this technology enables us to ask you very specifically for what to pray for.

The primary thing to pray for is that God really blesses the elders meetings.  That the Holy Spirit truly moves in that building moving the mens heart and that we communicate not in our strength but in his.  Pray that he gives us the words to say and in a way that challenges to the core but in love and gentleness and cultural sensitivity.

Please specifically today that all the travel stuff works and weather is not bad and the border is easy.  Also that everyone meeting up at the right place and time works logistically but also that we comes focusing on this one purpose and really gel quickly together.

Love to you all,
Your brother in the risen Lord Jesus,

Stu
