What is Messy Church like?

We start with coffee, squash & cake. Then there are lots of arts, crafts and games.  Next a short service with stories, songs and prayers followed by a hot meal. There is no charge for Messy Church.

When is Messy Church?

The first two dates are:
Thursday 5 June and Thursday 3 July.

Starts with a welcome over coffee, squash and cake from 3:30-4pm then arts & crafts from 4pm onwards.

Who is Messy Church for?

Messy church is for everyone - young and old alike. If you are a child, you will need to bring an adult with you.

Just come along to Messy Church and join in!

Week Commencing 29 June

Services/Meetings

  • Give thanks for the victory won for us through Jesus' supreme sacrifice on the cross.

  • Give thanks for Matt Knight as he leaves Claygate to returns to Durban to help set up a new church there.

  • Pray for the small group leaders training taking place this week.

  • Lift up the Messy Church team as the second Messy Church service takes place on Thursday.  Give thanks that the first service went well. 
  • Pray that families new to HTC would feel encouraged to come and try it out.
  • Pray for the small group leaders training taking place this week.

Pastoral/Church family

  • Pray for those with health difficulties and especially for Linda Antell, Greg Blake, Jean Gilchrist, Joyce Grundy and Daphne Watson (Marion Thorley’s mother).

  • Pray for all who are bereaved and especially for the family and friends of Charlie Hibbert and Beatrice Benest whose funerals take place this week.

  • Give thanks for Tom who was ordained priest on Friday. Pray for Stuart who was ordained on Saturday and for David Salter, Beverley Hunt and Liz Richardson who were ordained on Sunday.

Mission

  • Pray for the work of Tearfund and especially for their Christian partners in Zimbabwe, where the giving of aid has become politicised bringing danger to those involved. Pray for the work of these partners and for resilience at this time. Pray for international agencies to be allowed to operate without political hindrance.

  • Pray for the work of the Church Pastoral Aid Society. Pray especially for the work of the patronage team and the Patronage Secretary John Alderman as he travels the length and breadth of the country working alongside parishes in the process of finding their new incumbent.

World

  • Pray for our brothers and sisters around the world who share the gospel even at the risk of persecution.  Pray that they would know God’s love especially when facing punishment.

  • Pray for those in our country who do not know Jesus in their lives.  Pray that those who are struggling at this time might come to know God’s light breaking into their lives, and bringing many out of the darkness.

  • Pray for the situation in Zimbabwe, and Palestine, that ultimately God’s will would be done. 

  • Pray for those areas of the world recovering from recent disasters.  Lift up those in Burma and China involved in aid and recovery work and for those who has suffered much loss in the recent storms and earthquakes.
