In Budapest

Arrived in Budapest at about 12:30 am.  Almost everyone is quite tired - a lot sleeping on the bus.  Great team spirit and unity.  Real spirit of humilty, we have been touched deeply by this week.  God has taught us so much this week, about ourselves, about his love in all sorts of situations.  I thank God for the team.  It has been a pleasure to be a part of this team called by God to be a part of his work in Trans Carpathia.  What an honour and priveledge. We have seen his hand moving across those villages and his love in action.

Anyway better get off to sleep.

Yours In Christ,

P.S. Feel free to write a comment to this blog as these are automatically emailed back to me.  They are lovely to receive.

Good night,

We are all back in the EU - Praise God!

We are safely back in the EU.  It was just a bit slow through the border but otherwise good.

We are all quite tired but a great spirit in the team. Also we have a couple of people with stomach problems.  Please pray for Felicity and Emma T that the rest of the journey is not too uncomfortable for them. They are being well looked after by our super team of medics.

We are off towards Budapest now.  We will be stopping for a meal about 9 ish.

More later ...

God bless

One bus through, one still waiting

1 bus through the Ukraine checkpoint now and are waiting to go into Hungary. Praise him. However the other 1 is still being checked by the Ukrainians. So please still pray for them that they are not anxious because he will take care of them. Remembering that there are many children on that bus. Thank you.

At the border

We are now at the border it is 16:40 Hungarian time. Please pray for our easy access.

Leaving the villages

We left the villages at about 2:30pm with lots of lovely goodbyes. Now heading towards Beregszasz where our non medical interpreters go to University. This is on the Ukraine side of the border. After that we will head towards the border...

Sunday morning

Friends,

Well the last day in the villages has arrived, oh the week has gone so fast.

I want to thanks God for being with us and teaching us so so much - I want to thank him for humbling us and for the inspiration of the people here who have so little but give us so much as they open the homes, families and lives to us.

Last night was the last of the socials in the villages - in Akli. We are their guests in their homes and all week they serve us with such insistence, at these socials it Is great to show our appreciation in a little way by serving them. It is great to make a fuss of them I especially like looking after the older ladies who have had such a hard life, this is our opportunity to serve them with biscuits, squash and choc crispy cakes. Making sure everyone is fed and no goes home thirsty.

This morning we have 3 church services in which we will be participating quite a lot. We will be doing the prayers (1 person from each mission) and singing with the children God is so big so strong and so mighty there is nothing my God cannot do then Philip will preach on John 3:1-16. Please pray for these services for Philip that he has words that are clear, simple and focused as dart. For Akos who will be translating Philip that he too will find the right words as he translates in to Hungarian. And for all the people praying some of whom have not prayed in front of such a large group of people, help them to remember that they are talking to their wonderful daddy with simple heartfelt words.

Mostly pray for those listening and that Gods word will sink deep into their hearts and comfort them if they need comforting and challenge them if they need challenging.

Then it will be lunch in Gyula and on to settes (coaches) for the trip to the border.

We know that so many of you are thinking about us and praying for us. It is such a comfort to us to know this and I thank you.

technical difficulties ...

There has been some issues.  I have had to send and resend and resend the postings as you can see from the time within the last blog.  I will keep trying.  Andrew Ts  mobile phone also just completely stopped.  So please pray for the technical stuff so that we can communicate to each other in the village and also back home to you.

Thanks

Good morning

Good morning friends

Its is monday morning and today all the missions start. Childrens, Medical, Youth and Community.  Please pray thanking God that all the stuff got here safley and seems to be in working condition.  Please pray that these all start well that everyone wakes up with a sense of excitment and expectation in what the Lord will do this week.

Yesterday was a long day but a good one starting with Church in Akli at 8am.  In the Church services we talked about '1 simple but wonderful message God loves us.  He really really loves us.  Some people here know this and some do not. If you do not I urge you to talk to someone this week about how they know that God does love them and how He has made the world of differences to our lives. ' Please pray that this message sinks deep and the conversations we have quickly move to talking about Jesus.

One good line from yesterday.  We had an interpreters meeting, so we gathered in a field in Gyula and then 1 of the English people asked me who we were going to get to translate for us.  Doh.

In 35 minutes we will be starting our prayer meetings both in the Ukraine and in the UK.  Let's thank God for the gift of prayer the ability to commune with our loving Daddy.  Let's not just talk but also listen to his gentle word.

God bless you all and thank you

A beautiful Sunday morning

Friends,

It's 6:15am and I am outside surrounded by farmyard sounds I can hear the chickens, cockerels and wood pigeons. And it´s a beautiful sunny but still cool Sunday morning.

We arrived in the villages about 10:30 last night with our hosts eager to hug and kiss us. It was great to be back here again. They had also prepared a meal for us in each house that most were eating @ 11.

The crossing over the border was difficult but not too bad. The story behind the delay was that after keeping us waiting for over an hour one guard openly said that if we pay him 2000 Florints (approx £6) then we could go through straight away otherwise we would have to wait for the end of his shift. We have always had a strict policy not to pay any bribes - we should 'pray not pay'. This time after this conversation the people on the bus started singing worship songs and reading scripture together so they operated a 'praise not pay'. His shift ending 7:00 and within minutes the 2 buses were through without checking any luggage we had under the buses! Thank the Lord for getting us through for his protection and loving comfort. And thank-you for your prayers for us. There were a lot of texts flying back and forth to the UK. One from the UK reminded us of James 5:16b 'the prayers of the righteous man are powerful and effective'.

So what is the plan for today. We will each be attending Church in the villages we are living in. I will be meeting with Bea the Youth leader after the Akli church service (8am) to talk about the youth camp and cover some general points. Please pray for Bea this week as she leads the youth camp that she will be equipped for this and have Gods peace and wisdom and excitement that comes with submitted to Gods plan and an expectation to see him move.

In the afternoon we will be attending the Gyula fair. Claygate last week Gyula this week! We will be mingling with the crowds talking to them about the activities of the week and why we are here. We will also be singing as a group some English songs and 2 songs we learnt on the buses on the way over! Please pray that our people get really stuck into the fair feeling no sense of shyness.

I will also take the interpreters off for a meeting talking with them about the purpose and theme. Please pray that there will be a real unity between the interpreters and ourselves that we are 1 team of Christian brothers and sisters wanted the same thing - more people to know Jesus better.

Then after that each mission will go their separate ways setting up their various locations ready for a good start on Monday morning.

God bless you all and we will be remembering you in Church in England as we worship in Church in the Ukraine and thank Him for all he has and all he will do this week wherever you are in this so loved world of His.

Saturday morning

Everone safely got to Budapest.

Lovely meal on Friday night - good to see so many old friends and meet some new ones.  The restaurant we go to is in a courtyard and has some traditional hungarian dancing and music.  At one point they pull up some 'volenteers' to dance with them.  We managed to get a great video of Andrew Tarcy really getting in touch with his hungarian heritage.  I will try and post it to the web site when I get back!

This morning started with breakfast and then a meeting for all where we thanked God for bringing us this far and calling us.  We read together the great commision Matt 28:16-20. And then got on 2 couches and 2 cars to start the journey proper.  1 couch is Hungarian and 1 is Ukraine.  The mechanics of the Ukrainian especially need your prayer.  I am sure that it was a very nice couch in the 60s so please remember us today.

I am writting this from that couch, its warm but not too warm. Next stop Tesco to pick up water and last minute previsions.

Thanks for your support and prayers

We are off again

Well the day has arrived we are off to Budapest TODAY!

The day started with our first prayer meeting at HTC, bringing together a small group from those that are going and those supporting us from home.  It was lovely to bring everything to God in prayer thanking him for calling us and bringing us to this point.  Thanking him oh so much for his wonderful loving kindness.

I am now writing to you from the plane to Budapest we should be landing at about 16:30 local time (there is 1 hour difference between Hungary (and our part of the Ukraine)). The plane left more or less on time and everyone is on the flight who should be.  We will be meeting the Tarcys in Budapest at the hotel (they went ahead yesterday to get everything ready in Budapest). Then in the evening for a traditional meal all together.

Tomorrow is the main part of the journey.  Going by Bus all the way to the south west part of the Ukraine.  The buses are quite old and the border crossing can be difficult.  Please pray for our safety and easy passage on this journey. This is a journey that we have done many times but we must not become complacent over the problems that could happen.  The answer is pray and we should be dependent on him and lift all things both big and small to him.

Thank you for your support and prayers,

Stuart Sadler

Back in the EU

We are all safely back into Europe after a wonderful trip. The discussions all went well and we have a lot to think about and plan for for the main trip at the end of July. We have very much felt Gods presence in our safe and easy travel, in our fellowship together and with the local church, in his guidence of our discussions. Put simply we have felt like we are in his loving hands all of the time.

Thanks so much for your prayer and for thinking of us,

God Bless,

Stuart and Andrew

P.S. we are looking forward to seeing you all soon

The main day

Friends,

Today has been a very busy and fruitful day. Church in Akli was good and very nice to see so many friends.

After church in Akli we took a look at the doctors/dentist location in Akli and then we meet with Bea to discuss how the youth groups are going. She runs 4 youth groups in 4 villages. Then onto church is Oj Akli where again it was good to see so many friends. In Oj Akli is the school that we as a church are helping to build, the building is coming on very well with the roof ready to put on. Then a meeting with Bea and Atilla to discuss some youth issues and then onto meet with both ministers (Atilla & Jeno) and their wives (Christina & Csilla) and Bea. This was a great discussion where we had a whole series of questions for them. Why was this great? because I felt we really worked all together to get to mutually agreed solutions. We also were having a dialogue where each person was open and frank about what was needed and we stayed focused on how does this help in the work of the Church. This was especially true in the areas of children mission and youth mission and socials. Our friends here really directed us to what they know in how the youth mission, timing and location would best reach out to teenagers who otherwise would not here the gospel. This will involve in them being greatly involved in running the youth camp too - it is great to be do more and more in true partnership. Indeed the importance of socials was also expressed where a evening can be organised by Christians which is fun without the need to resort to drink or drugs (both problems here).

We finished this discussion at 10:30pm - time for supper, which we have just finished.

Thank you again for your prayers they mean so much to us here.

God Bless and sleep well,

Stuart Sadler

We are at the villages.

We arrived at about 7:00pm after a good trip. We meet with Atilla one of the ministers and his wife Christina both are well. Although Christina has a bad cold and is pregnant so please remember all 3 (+ baby) of them at this time in your prayers.

We then all went on to Akli to have a lovely meal with Laslo's family (one of the elders, the family that Dudley normally stays with) and got into a good discussion over what are key issues for youth today. We will continue this discussion tomorrow when we look at specifically what talks should be part of the Youth please pray that we are prompted by the spirit to the right subjects and that we have the wisdom to be simultaneously culturally sensitive but without watering down anything for our comfort.

In the service tomorrow Atilla is preaching on 2 Kings 4:8 - about the well2do woman who has an unexpected child from God prophesied by Elisha that dies and is brought back to life - please remember him in your prayer as he talks about this area that is so close to his own life.

I will be giving a short notice about our summer visit in both the Akli and Oj Akli churches - unfortunately I cannot do all three as the Gyula service clashes with the Akli service time.

Then we will meet with Bea the youth leader and the ministers. Please pray also for wisdom in all our decisions when we met, e.g. over house placements, children and youth structures, purpose of socials.

Please pray thanks to God for bringing us here safely and for us to continue in good health and clarity of mind to get the most out of this short trip to the Glory of His name.

God bless
