All home who should be!

Back in Claygate, Petersfield and of course Liss.

Praise God

It has been a great week.  We have been in the best place in the world that is in Gods caring hands. We have so much to thank him for.  So many 'God-incidences' not coincidences!  He is such a loving father. There was such a peace in the team and throughout the trip that can only come from him not from man. Andrew and I want to thanks all those on the team,  our theme for the week was 'Serving the servant King' and this was our attitude.  But as Simon said I came to serve but I didn't realise it was going to be so much fun too. Andrew and I also want to thank all of you for supporting , praying and loving us.

Really looking forward to seeing you all this Sunday.

God bless, love

On the way back home.

This morning we had a lovely celebration of what God has done this week.  We also had a prayer time where we remembered people from the villages that had touched our hearts - saying their names.

A few of us left today (this picture is of Michael on the plane) .  Most will come home tomorrow and then 2 families are staying on till the weekend.  Please pray for safe travel and also that we stay excited by what God has done and what he will continue to do.

I am now home back in Claygate.

I will blog again tomorrow evening.

Thanks

God bless

All back safely in the hotel in Budapest.

Friends,

We arrived back to the hotel late last night after stopping in a restaurant to the east of Budapest for our last communal meal together.  Everyone tired but in good spirits.  This morning we will have breakfast and then meet at 9:30 (8:30 UK) to have a short praise and thanks giving session when we remember why we went , who we went for, and give him all the glory.

Right now I am sure most are fast asleep, please pray for us as a team that they are sleeping well right now.  Please pray that the 9:30 session goes well that we really focus on Jesus and count our blessing and remember the people in transcarpathia who have touched our lives.  If you have been on a previous trip then pray for someone over there you know personally.  Otherwise pray for some one you have heard on the blog or from others.

Please also pray that as we go back that we do not forget what God has taught us.  That we keep serving the servant King with renewed passion in our homes, schools or work.

I want to thank each one of you who has been reading this site and supporting us with pray throughout the week. Your pray support and love is so important to us and we look forward to be back with you

God bless,

And much love

Akli social starts with a swing.

Stuart Sadler

Saturday

Jo napot friends,

We have had a great last full day.

Great spirit in the school and good last sessions in the medical centre.

Please pray the last social in Akli tonight.  And also that people have a lovely last evening with their hosts building on the fellowship and friendships.  Please also pray for the services tomorrow.  I will be preaching on the parable of the lost sheep and Linda will be preaching on Jesus washing the disciples (which seems very apt esp looking at my feet as I type this!).  We will be singing and praying and telling the lost sheep by using cartoon story on scrolling paper.  We will at Attilas request be modeling 'lots of people do lots of different bits'.  So pray that people see that this works.

Thanks

But most of all could you pray for the villagers because as we leave they often feel lonely and pray that they really feel Gods presence because he is there with them 52 weeks a year.

Love in the risen Lord Jesus

Friday morning

Morning everyone,

Firstly thank you so much for you comments that you are leaving on this blog.

Yesterday was a good day we had three new people an opthalmologist from Hungary, a nurse called Clair and Linda from HTC.  All arrived safely and actually very speedily across the border and are getting stuck into their various areas.

Today in the school the theme will be the lost sheep, this is a really important day and much of the other days have been building to this.  Please pray that this gospel message really sinks deep with the Children.

Please pray again for renewed energy.  Pray that the holy spirit keeps comforting and energising us with his energy and awesome love.

God bless

Thurs pm - Uj Akli social

Good morning

This a picture of the Uj Akli social.  I really love this event  This is the one time that we can be hosts to the village people that opens their homes and lives to us so generously.  It is so great to look after and make sure people have a good time.  I especially like making serving old ladies.  They have had such a hard life and have spent all their lives serving others and just for one evening it is lovely to have them sit down and eat interesting biscuits and see children having fun.  To see them laugh is such joy.  We are fortunate to have a (much younger) lady from Petersfield with us called Carol who is a puppeteer and she is paired up brilliantly with a translator called Szilivia.  God has put these 2 together and the story telling they are doing is just wonderful to see.  Last night at the social they with the help of Jess the puppet told the story of the prodigal son.

Rush hour in Gyula

Good Morning Friends,

Every morning the cows are taken from each house out to the meadows by the cow hand and then they come back in the evening each to their own exact house.  Sometimes you get struck behind them going along the road.  But still beats the M25 any day!

Yesterday was a big success.  Family day in the woods-volleyball, goulash, trad dancing,  good walk to top of the hill looking into Romania.

Youth bonfire in the evening.  8 till 10pm.  Jess and other youth got delayed on their bus till 9:50 so we had two very cool and yes slightly older youth (Simon and myself) (do youngsters still say cool) keeping the singing, and testimonies going for 2 hours.  Jess gave hers at the end of the evening.  Seemed to go down very well with the hungarian youth.  We had about 50 young people!

Today we have all moved locations so that we can serve in as many villages as poss.  The .mothers and toddlers are in the small village of Uj Akli and they have 11 toddlers (along with their mums).  And the really good news is is that 9 of them are from unchurched families!  Praise God.  Pray that this leads to firm links and the kingdom increases in this village due to these connections.

All but 1 of the sick ladies are recovered and back at work.  And the other is on the way we think. And no one else seems to Praise God and thanks for your prayers.

Today could you pray today for renewed energy for the team.

Today (Wed) is rest day

Bible study then up to woods above the villages in Akli Hegy - the picture is traditional dancing in the woods.  All except the medics and dentist that did 1 more session this morning and then had to move their surgerys from Akli to Gyula.  But the good news is that both the medics and dentists both got up the goulash picnic.  Today is often considered the mid point of the week.  And we really rested in the Lord today focusing on  our bible study on our his taking of our burden.

It is often the time we also have some illnesses and this year we have had a few more than normal all female adults with 24 hour tummy bugs.  So please pray for them as this quite literally works through there system.

This evening we ha ve a youth evening where Jess B and I will give our testimony nd we will also do some singing.

Love in our wonderful saviour,

Tuesday morning

Jo regelt (good morning).

It is a beautiful morning over here again.  Yesterday was a really good day - praise God.   Peace and calm at the childrens mission.  Please pray that we not exceed 150 children and that not too many older children will be disappointed.  Mothers and toddlers was really good.  We had hoped though that there would be the chance for mums to be able to talk together and mums to be able to talk to us ( Jill and Marion ) are leading this. So please pray that these conversations do occur and can develop to something really deep.

We had a film night in Gyula where we showed a film about the book of Ester called the Invisible hand.  Pray that this touched people showing them the love of our Lord and the intensity of the care he lavishes onto us.  Dental took some time to sort out technical problems and worked late because of this, please pray that the equipment works well and that the team lead by Tony and Paul do not get to tired or stressed by so wanting to help people but being stifled sometimes either by the technology or the conditions (they are setup in a small house), pray that God flows into that house his spirit where everyone on the team is so on serving their patients and serving each other and also stay totally aware that they are really and truly serving Jesus.

Today the childrens mission are doing the story of Noah.  Jed the puppet made an appearance and he went down well with the children. Please pray for Cath and Simon as they run the get together in the morning that this gets the day started on exactly the right way that being on Jesus.  Also pray for Clair as she leads the whole, often with so many balls in the air tracking what ever team is up to and solving on the spot problems.  Please pray for wisdom and strength and love for her.

Thank you -  please also pray that the technology that I am using now keeps functioning and that I can keep the pray requests flowing.  I know that so many of you are praying.  If you do add any comments to any of these messages.  When you do this your message is automatically sent to me via email and I will share them with the team to encourage them.

God bless you all

Mothers and Toddlers busy car park!

Monday morning ...

It is a beautiful moring here in trans carpathia.  Sunny 28C and the birds are singling.

Medical and Dental are getting started up and should be up to full speed by the afternoon.  Please pray for the electricity to remain on we have had 2 multi hour power cuts since we have been here.  This also stops the water as water is often electrically pumped from the wells.

Children has started up in such a lovely tranquil way.  I thank the Lord because his peace in on the school building.  Even with plenty of children - there are 101,  this is usual and should rise to about 150 as word gets around. The photo is of the older children waiting to take their turn at rounders!  Please pray that we do not get to many children if it goes over 150 it comprises it for everyone.  Also that older children do not come as this too can spoil it for the younger ones - our ceiling is 13 year olds.

Mothers and Toddlers has also started well the next posting as a picture for you of the busy car park for Mothers and toddlers.  Please pray that this does too get overrun with toddlers and that mums get some time to talk with each other and us and that these conversations turn naturally and quickly to ones of faith.

Yesterday was a bad day for blogging - very busy and also lots of power cuts.  So praying for the electricty.should help this blog too!

Thanks again for you prayers,

Love to you all

Preparation trip

Friends,

Well we have 7 weeks now until the main mission leaves for the Ukraine.   This weekend Andrew and Felicity Tarcy are on there way to the Ukraine to firm up some final details about the summer.  They plan to cross the border mid afternoon tomorrow - so please remember them in your prayers.  We should never underestimate the difficulty of the crossing and should always be grateful to God when he opens the borders to us.  Andrew and Felicity will be meeting with the ministers and their wives and the headmistress of the school.  Andrew will text me with his progress and I will update this blog as he does.  Pray for Andrew and Felicity to be filled with wisdom for these last minutes decisions please also pray that the Spirit will prompt them all the way with everything that needs to be thought through.  Please pray also for a renewed feeling of unity that we are all his servants whether we happen to live in a village in the UK or the Ukraine.  They should be returning to Budapest on Mon and then back to the UK on tuesday.

Thank you friends,

At border ...

We went through the Ukraine part of the border so quickly I didn't have time to blog!!

We are now waiting to get into Hungary so shouldn't be a problem.  They just check much more carefully as this is 'the frontier for Europe' and there is also a lot of smuggling of Ukrainian cigarettes into Hungary.

About this mornings services Kim says he has never been so cold and Barry noticed that there was a frost on inside floor.

Even though it was probably about at the warmest -5C.  It was great to be with them worshipping and also our talks went well.  They also formally and informally sent their greetings and love to our 2 congregations of Petersfield and Claygate.

I'll let you know when we are through into. Hungary.

This is the day the Lord has made ...

Friends,

It is a beautiful morning in Oj Akli. The sun is shining, the birds are singing but it is still bitterly cold.

We will be remembering you worshipping in Peterfield and Claygate this morning.  Barry, Kim and Peter send their love to you all.

It has been a very special couple of days. And we look forward to seeing you very soon.

Please pray for Peter, Kim and me as we talk in the Church services this morning.

More so for the wonderful people of this area. This is a hard life.  Extremes of weather and more and more extremes of wealth.

Thanks as always for your support and prayers,

Saturday, 16 February 2008

End of Saturday night

Friends,

Our two days of spending time with the mens of Gyula, Akli, Oj Akli and Nevetland is over.  We have had a great 2 days.  It has been a pleasure to explore some of the key principles of the gospel and what it really means to be a christian with these men who have such a tough life.  The teaching we gave was very well received and Peter and Barry did a great job of presenting their 2 areas of 'our response' and ' so what next?'.  I especially liked Barrys line ' ... well I am an engineer and - like things to be logical and so I have one manual to guide me - the bible,

I think I should explain the photo that I sent earlier today.  Its is a picture of about 2/3 rds of the elders.  So don't worry we had about the same number of people today.

After todays session we had a church service were Kim and Peter gave their testimonies in a Church with no heating when it is -10C outside with about 6" of snow.  It was cold.

We have all been touched with the Christian brotherhood between the men here and us.  We have talked on several times about us being all 1 family with the most awesome, loving daddy.

Thanks again for all your prays they do mean so much and it is so great to think about you being so supportive of these missions.

Timonie morning we have 4 church services to go to.  Peter is preaching in one of them (Gyula) and Kim and I are giving short talks in the other 3.  So please pray for these services to build up the church here.

Then at about 2:30pm we will be heading off towards Budapest,

Your brother in Christ

Day 1

Friends,

Woke up today after far too few hours of very deep sleep.

Beautiful morning here 5C and plenty of sunshine.

Today is the first day of a mini alpha course we are running with the elders.

the talks for today are;

Who is Jesus? By Kim

Why did he die? By me

And then a special talk on the role of elders from a minister from Berehove

Please pray that all th elders come and the Holy Spirit protects them and helps them to listen and for these Gods words in these key sessions to sink deep into their hearts.  Please also pray for the discussion groups that the stay focused and that the men feel that they can be completely honest and they get to the heart of the matter quickly.

Thanks and God bless

Start of mens mission ...

Friends,

Today is the start of the mens mission. Most of the day we will be travelling all meeting in Budapest.  Barry and Kim from HTC and Peter from Peters field United Reformed Church meet at 4am this morning and are now flying towards Budapest. I am flying in from Chicago.  In Budapest we will meet up with Klara (Akos' daughter) and Enniko (a friend of Andrew Ts).  Klara and Enniko will be our main translators for the trip.  They are very skilled linguists but more important than that mature sisters in Christ.

The itinery after all meeting up looks like this:

- Thu 3pm Pick up bibles in Budapest

- Thu 4pm Stop at Tesco for essentials

- Thu. 8pm ish arrive at border

- Thu late arrive in the villages

- Thu late meet with Ministers and 2 more translators from University (Sandor and Ferenc)

- Fri 9-5 .day 1 of elders mini alpha course - Fri 7pm evangelical village meeting #1

- Sat 9-5 day 2 for elders

- Sat 7pm evangelical village meeting #2

- Sun am village Church services

- Sun early pm start drive to border and on to Budapest

- Mon evening flight home

Being able to send these messages is very important to us.  It is such a comfort that there are so many of you supporting us in Prayer.  And this technology enables us to ask you very specifically for what to pray for.

The primary thing to pray for is that God really blesses the elders meetings.  That the Holy Spirit truly moves in that building moving the mens heart and that we communicate not in our strength but in his.  Pray that he gives us the words to say and in a way that challenges to the core but in love and gentleness and cultural sensitivity.

Please specifically today that all the travel stuff works and weather is not bad and the border is easy.  Also that everyone meeting up at the right place and time works logistically but also that we comes focusing on this one purpose and really gel quickly together.

Love to you all,

Your brother in the risen Lord Jesus,

Stu
